Summer holds a special kind of magic. It invites us to live in the moment & enjoy our lives to the fullest. If you want to turn your summer into a whimsical, nostalgic season, this guide is for you. So, grab youself a cozy, summery drink and let’s begin ^^
Whimsical Activities
I always felt like summer goes by waaayyy too fast, which is why having a list of activities to do can be so helpful in making this season feel longer and filled with magic and fond memories to look back on. Here are some of my favorite whimsical summer activities:
Picking Wildflowers
Collect wildflowers and herbs to press or arrange in simple bouquets!

Summer Picnic
There is something so nostalgic about having a picnic in summer. Packing your favorite foods into a basket, bringing a picnic blanket and enjoying some quiet time, or connecting with loved ones.
DIY Flower Crowns and Herb Sachets
Use your foraged flowers to craft cute crowns or small sachets filled with lavender and chamomile!
Sunset Journaling
Write down your thoughts, dreams, or scetch something beautiful you can see. Journaling always helps me slow down and live in the moment.
Little Things to Buy for a Whimsical Summer
Another one of my favorite ways to romanticize summer is getting a couple new items for my home, wardrobe or just little trinkets in general ^^ Thrifting is also a very good option instead of buying new!
Whimsical Dresses
Some of my favorite brands to shop whimsical dresses are:
Sondeflor, LaceMade, JardinVue and so many more…
Home Decor
I’ve absolutely been loving queen Ann and cottagecore interiors lately, but whatever your decor style is, little trinkets like vases, decorative plates, faux or real flowers, teacups, collectors items (I love collecting Disney princess figurines), pastel colored items, etc. Basically anything that reminds you of summer and sparks joy when you look at it ^^
Cute To Go Cups
My cutesy flower to go cup comes with me everywhere and helps me romanticize any season, as I get to bring my favorite drinks with me wherever I go ^^
Scented Candles
Candles scented with lavender, rose, or anything summery bring that sweet summer smell into your home and it’s so cozy lighting a candle on evenings spent indoors.
Whimsical Makeup
Recently I’ve bought some makeup from FlowerKnows, which I’ve been wanting to do forever and it is literally the most beautiful makeup I’ve ever seen!! (Not sponsored) I now feel like a princess every morning because the packaging looks like it came straight out of a fairytale!
can you believe this is a blush and an eyeshadow palette?? 😍
Books to Read for a Whimsical Summer
Another one of my favorite ways to romanticize summer is by reading summery books.
"The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett
A book I will always recommend to anyone. An orphaned girl, a mysterious mansion, a secret garden, animals, love, friendship…
"Anne of Green Gables" by L.M. Montgomery
Anne’s way of romanticizing all the little things in life will always inspire me.
“The Daisy Chain Flower Shop” by Laurie Gilmore
I only recently started this book but am already loving it. I’ve written about another
book in this series in a previous blog post before.
Flowerheart by Catherine Bakewell
A cozy fantasy about a girl with unruly magic, the cutest romance and a world that needs saving <3
How to Make Every Day Feel Magical
Romanticizing summer is about more than just activities and items. I believe that it’s a mindset that invites you to notice and cherish the small wonders and glimmers all around you.
Slow Down and Savor the small moments
Take time to enjoy your morning coffee, watch clouds drift by, or listen to birdsong. I believe these moments are the ones that build nostalgia.
Connect with Nature Daily
Whether it’s tending a small garden, watching butterflies, or feeling the grass beneath your feet, daily contact with nature grounds is sooo important for living in the moment.
Celebrate “Small” Things
Light a candle in the evenings, buy yourself some flowers “just because”, put on your best dress and visit a bookstore or coffeeshop, get your favorite drink to-go and take a walk, etc.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this post and got some inspiration for making your summer the most whimsical summer ever xx
